Kitchen Aid counter depth refrigerator model KSSS42QKXOO went out on 12/31/20. Three months later still no replacement part (heat exchanger).

Sent two recent emails to them and no reply to either.

Cost of replacement fridge is $6,000 to $9000 more than cost of repair but what can you do? At some point you need a working fridge.

User's recommendation: stay away from Kitchen Aid and other Whirlpool brands.

Product or Service Mentioned: Kitchenaid Refrigerator.

Monetary Loss: $8.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

KitchenAid Pros: Look of product.

KitchenAid Cons: Absolutely no customer servcie.

Have you any documentation to prove your initial contact ? E-mails are like a puff of steam in the wind - gone in seconds.

Useless. If your unit is under factory warranty, you must serve them written notice via Certified Mail Return Receipt Requested. Prepare all pertinent information : purchase, price, vendor, repair quotation, etc. If not under warranty or they've dragged their feet until it expired, you may be SOL.

Since you know the nature of the technical problem, it seems to me that with a bit of savvy and some good fortune you could get this fixed for a lot less cash. Who do you know ? Who do they know ?

etc. Good luck and hold on to your money as much as possible because somebody wants to grab it pretty badly.

It was out of warranty. Checked multiple parts sour4ces both directly and through the repair man - no parts and no ETA on them.

Most annoying of all was their failure to respond - a simple apology would have made me feel better.

Speaking of feeling better, finally found a replacement fridge - a Dacor. At least felt better that it was not a Whirlpool product.
