After numerous calls and emails. Kitchen Aid does not have an answer to the horrible smell that comes from the inside of my dishwasher.

All they could say, run the affresh through every 30 days. Between that run vinegar through a wash cycle. This does not even help anymore. I am to the point of after only owening this dishwasher for 2years to replace it.

I have cleaned the filters, wiped the inside of the washer out, it is clean but smells. How can Kitchen Aid not offer some sort of a solution?

What can a consumer do about this? Is there someone else that I can contact about this issue?

Reason of review: Bad quality.

Monetary Loss: $1000.

Preferred solution: I would like it fixed or replaced.

KitchenAid Cons: Would never buy another kitchen aid dishwasher.

Have a KitchenAid dishwasher. it stinks between washings.

Makes me sick to my stomach. My drain tube has a loop in it as it should. I do have a garbage disposal.

Never had one minutes trouble in 39 years till I bought this one. This washer is about 2 years old and came from Lowes.

I have the same issue with my KitchenAid dish waster. Terrible smell when you turn it on and I use my dish washer every day or every other day.

The dish washer is only two years old. I've tried cleaning the filters and wiping it out, etc.

Nothing seems to help. Frustrated.

My new Kitchenaid smell horribly foul. I am so disgusted with the lack of concern between the Whirlpool appliance repairmen, the store, and the installer that I want to rip it out along with all the plumbing it is attached to.

Each party blames another party and here I sit paying over $1000 for a dishwasher that has obvious problems. Perhaps the installers are not installing to specs, or the brand technicians do not know their products well enough to solve the problem. Never buying Kitchenaid again and will tell everyone I know. Going back to hand washing...at 65.

I have never had this problem with a dishwasher before. No amount of vinegar, baking soda and afresh will make a difference.

Ours stinks like *** too! I hate our dishwasher.

We donโ€™t know what the heck to do to save this dishwasher. I would rather return it, get my money back, and go somewhere else.

I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher less than a year ago. It has smelled since day one....i have tried every detergent, every cleaning trick....dishes always have a stinky "fishy" smell.

Now on top of the awful smell the dishwasher won't run a wash cycle....water just drips out for 10 mins then stops....... Stay away from KitchenAid

I just purchased the KitchenAid dishwasher and it smells like something died inside it! I have never had a dishwasher smell like this, and it's brand new!

I have run the wash cycle numerous times to try to eliminate the odor and nothing works. I only wish I had seen these comments before I purchased it.

I too am having a stinky problem with my Kitchenaide dishwasher. I have tried everything to get rid of the smell.

It is driving me CRAZY!!

It took along time for me to get my โ€œdreamโ€ dishwasher only to have had it for less than two years to have a horrible smell. I feel like I have been duped by this company into thinking they are a high end brand.

I too have a "stinky" Kitchen Aid dishwasher. I've had a variety of dishwashers my whole life and have NEVER experienced this kind of rotten smell. I've bought the cleaners, wiped it down, tried the suggestions offered and still it stinks!

I too have a Kitchen Aid Pro Series Dishwasher, top of the line. I've never had this problem before, but our dishes smell horrible.

Yes, we use a monthly cleaning product for odors. Yes, we run a gallon of vinegar in between those cleanings. Yes, we make sure the water in the lines is scorching hot before running the cycle...and YES, WE CLEAN THE FILTER AT THE BOTTOM EVERY FEW CYCLES. None of this has eliminate the smell.

Coupled with the fact it takes nearly four hours each cycle, and it take at least 4 tabs and 2 cycles to do a load of dishes, we too have decided to change dishwashers. This is clearly a design flaw which likely encourages bacterial growth, despite the claims of sanitizing. I'm a skilled homemaker and know how to load a dishwasher to allow for the free flow between levels, so impeded water/detergent are non-issues. Very disappointed.

Wanted to buy American, but GE is awful. Paper plates are looking better every day.

We are very sorry to hear about the issue you are experiencing with your KitchenAid Dishwasher. There can be a couple of explanations for the odor you are experiencing.

If your dishwasher is hooked up to a garbage disposal, sometimes sewer gases can be siphoned back into the machine and may be a sign of problems with your plumbing. Another reason for the odor is that there is a seal in the bottom of the unit that has to stay wet to do its job. We recommend running a clean cycle with either Affresh Tablets or white vinegar at least twice a month to eliminate odor. Additionally, leaving the door slightly ajar after use, to help make sure that air is circulating properly, can help with the odor issue as well.

Another suggestion, make sure you are removing and cleaning the filters in the bottom of the unit on a regular basis. Trapped food particles and other debris can cause odor. Finally, make sure you are using a rinse aid like Jet Dry to aid in the drying process.

The sheeting action helps the drying cycle be the most efficient and will reduce odor causing dampness from the unit. We hope you find these helpful tips useful.

This never happened with any of my other dishwashers. You sel a "better" product for more money and the reality is that it is terrible.

I too am having issues with a harsh smell. It is not a rotten or musty smell.

It is more of a plastic or petrol smell. I am certain the smell emanates from two sources. The first source is the all plastic third rack at the top of the dishwasher. The second source is from the sound barrier pads that are stuck to the dishwasher with an adhesive.

This padding is different from the insulated blanket that drapes over the machine. Can anyone else determine if my observation is similar to your experience? Does Kitchenaid have a replacement third rack made of an alternative material? Maybe similar to the material used to make the other two racks?

Can the adhesive sound barrier pads be replaced with something less acrid? Can the EPA or CPSC get involved and test the chemicals used in the manufacturing of the above products to ensure we aren't being poisoned by the off gasses filling our homes from these dishwashers?

By the way, my dishwasher model number is: KDFE204KPS. I purchased the dishwasher from Lowe's on 04/19/2021 in Woodstock, GA.
