On 1/19/14 I purchased a Kitchenaid mixer from Kohls. The mixer was advertised with a manufacturer's cash rebate of $30. The Kitchenaid rebate form, which I received from Kohls, indicated that I had to send the Proof of Purchase with a UPC number. I called Kitchenaid Rebates Customer Service to ask them where to find the UPC #. They told me that I would find it on the outside of the box.

In early February I sent the rebate form to Kitchenaid along with the Kohl's original receipt and a photocopy of a Proof of Purchase sticker that I found glued to one side of the mixer box. The sticker had a number, which I assumed was the UPC.

A few weeks later Kitchenaid sent me a card indicating that my rebate application was invalid because "it did not include any valid original Kithchenaid UPC". I immediately contacted Kitchenaid Rebates again. I was told that I had to re-submit the rebate with the original "proof of purchase" sticker and a photocopy of their notification card.

They told me that the paperwork I had previously sent was on file, including the original of the Kohls receipt.

This time I cut the box where the proof of purchase sticker was glued, and sent the piece of cardboard with the sticker on it to Kitchenaid. I even took the time to send the re-submission with a letter in which I explained the steps I had already taken to make sure that they would get everything they needed to issue the rebate.

Almost two months later, I had not heard or seen any mail from Kitchenaid. I decided to call their rebates customer service for the third time. They told me that they had received my rebate re-submission, but insisted that I had sent them a photocopy of the proof of purchase, which is absolutely false. The customer service rep. told me that if I wanted, I could pursue with a formal letter to a "exceptions" department so that a team of people would review my rebate submission again. Really??? Why should I ask Kitchenaid to do an exception with my submission if I sent all the documents that I was supposed to? Do they expect me to wait another two months to tell me that there is no exception for me??? Evidently, Kitchenaid runs a big scam with their rebates.

To my dismay, I have found that there are many people out there who have also been scammed by Kitchenaid. Their story is quite similar. They bought a product with an advertised rebate, bought it in good faith, and ended up with no rebate because Kitchenaid found any excuse to deny their rebate submission.

In my case I contacted Kohls and told them about such a negative experience with a Kitchenaid rebate that they (Kohls) had advertised. Kohls issued me a credit for the amount of the rebate that Kitchenaid did not want to pay.

I will certainly continue shopping at Kohls. I will never buy a Kichenaid product again.

Monetary Loss: $30.

Seeing this happen to others confirms to me that Kitchen Aid is simply running a scam here. We satisfied all requirements of rebate submission and received reply card that the "postmark on the submission envelope is missing or illegible.

Please provide a copy of the missing items". What a load of ***! Ever seen a postmark on an envelope you couldn't read? Ever been able to copy a postmark of an envelope that you yourself mailed???

Run away, people.

If Kitchen Aid is unscrupulous enough to scam customers in this manner, they don't deserve our business, and should be reported to BBB. Another reason to avoid manufacturer's rebate programs altogether, and to tell retailers that this is why we'll buy elsewhere for an honest price.

Same issue here, but 50 dollar rebate promised not given. They stated they could not read the postmark, but they showed they received all the information between the time periods they had for the rebate.

There is no where in their information online a the rebate center that says they need to be able to see the postmark. I am considering speaking with a lawyer, and I am sure I will get way more than 50 bucks, just to prove a point.

Same issue with me. I bought a stand mixer that comes with a $100 rebate.

I submitted everything as requested and it kept being rejected. I called and he said there was nothing they could do but that it was perhaps my poor internet connection. He said to try again tomorrow.

Already such a hassle for a product I wouldn't have purchased without the rebate. I will be returning the product if this isn't sorted by tomorrow.

Similar problem for me. Submitted everything and received the postcard saying some items were missing from my submission.

I called the number and they said "I see you are qualified for the rebate. Call back if you haven't gotten your rebate in 6-8 weeks." I check the rebate status website regularly and after 6 weeks from the phone call, the rebate had not been shipped. I called and they told me "Your rebate card was just printed today. You should have it very soon." That was a week and a half ago and they still haven't mailed it.

I purchased the mixer in November. It is the middle of March and I'm still waiting.

It's obvious they plan on most people forgetting about it or not keeping proper records. Rediculous.

I just had the same thing happen to me for their rebate for a KitchenAid Food Grinder. I submitted the UPC code right off the box, the original receipt, and the rebate form.

I just received a postcard saying that I didn't send a valid UPC code. I am definitely going to call and follow up, but I am very frustrated that I did everything correctly but they denied me my rebate.

The rebate was a big incentive for buying the mixer in the first place. If they don't make this right, I will not buy from them again.

Not Kitchenaid, but have found the whole "rebate" thing to be more often scam than not. I wait so long that I forget who and where I sent these danged things...

too busy to pursue them and THAT'S exactly what they're hoping for! Just FYI so your frustration is in much company with all of us who get scammed with rebate purchases!
