Took 6 weeks to repair my microwave. The company wouldn’t return my calls nor did Sears when they promised to call me back on several occasions. Completely terrible service and awful reliability.

Kitchenaid - Microwave Review from Goodland, Florida

Replacement ceramic bracket for 2007 convection microwave has been discontinued. This bracket broke and it holds up the heating element to the top of the microwave. Will I have to buy anew dual unit to the tune of $3,500 for a $10 part. Will never buy a Whirlpool appliance again. Have been in contact with them for over a month. They keep sending and recommending the wrong part. I am so disappointed.

I purchased all new Kitchenaid appliances for our kitchen remodel. It has been 30 days and so far we are on our 3rd range and second microwave. Kitchenaid apparently doesn't have ANYONE in the CITY OF HOUSTON that can replace a broken microwave so they want to ship it to me and I am suppose to have it installed. They will "reimburse" me for the cost of the installation AS LONG AS THE COST is within their "range". Such an offing joke. We spent $13K on a bunch of junk. Lowe's has been amazing but they are so embarrassed by the quality of the product we have received.

Hello! I'm an appliance tech of 12 years.

I don't represent any brand. The problem you had with the door glass is not uncommon to any brand. The reason it happens is usually the glass being poorly tempered (which is supplied by some glass company to Whirlpool), or the glass was installed a bit too tight during assembly.

I have replaced probably 30+ glass panels, and it is not particular to any brand, but more often to newer products that mount the glass with adhesive, which doesn't allow the glass to expand and contract with heating and cooling cycles. Self clean puts glass to the limit of its expansion range, and it's typically when glass breaks.

KitchenAid in Highland, California - High Price, Poor Quality

I bought the Ultima Microwave and the Architect Series Fridge and Oven Range. Within a few weeks, the fridge stopped working. I had it repaired but a month later, it stopped working again. Luckily Sears (from which I purchased it) replaced it. However, a year later, it broke yet again. That's three times and two separate Kitchenaid fridges in one year! The oven was glitchy from the start: The control panel would short out every once in a while. Then one day, the whole oven just stopped working. I did a online search on how to repair it and there were a lot of reports of this being a common problem with Kitchenaid ovens. The microwave had problems from the start as well: within a few months of purchase, the control panel became loose and the lightbulb kept shorting out and burning out every few days (and replacements are expensive...I think $15-$30 a bulb!). It recently started making weird buzzing sounds and, after a loud "pop", stopped working altogether. This product feels so dangerous to use, I could never recommend a Kitchenaid product to anyone.
