We are in a new home build since August 2016. We have the Kitchen Aid double microwave/convection oven combo #KOCE500ESS04.

In November my husband BARELY tapped the lip on the edge of the glass turn table plate and a big chunk chipped off. I've had several microwaves over the years and this issue has never happened. I called customer service thinking it would be covered under warranty but no, this part is only under warranty for 30 days. Seriously??

In my gut I knew it was defective but not in the mood to argue so went ahead and ordered anew one at my expense. I was shocked to hear that with shipping the cost would total $83.00. And then told it was on back order for six weeks (which confirmed my suspicion that a backorder on a new model indicated manufacturing flaws). I received the replacement AND IT WAS THE WRONG ONE.

So I called again getting transferred and disconnected several times. Finally I got someone who seemed to care and a new order was placed--but again, backordered. During this wait time another huge chip appeared so today I decided to check on the status of the order. The first person I spoke with said there indeed is issues with this plate and are still back ordered but told me off the bat this should have been under the warranty.

She transferred me to parts where I expressed my frustration at being charged initially for the first order. We went round and round several times where he insisted I was not charged because it was a "replacement" I continued to say yes I was and didn't make a dent in his mind so ended the call. I called Amex to confirm a charge and indeed it was on there. Thank goodness Amex is taking it from here and will get a refund.

I realize this is a much smaller issue then many other consumers on this site, but heck if Kitchen Aid can't get their act together for what should be a no brainer, I would cringe at a major one!

I think the company is just too big and impersonal now as far as large appliances. A person should not have to log in several days phone calls to get a freaken plate lol!

Reason of review: Bad quality.
