KitchenAid dishwasher has secret design flaw
I bought the top of the line Kitchenaide dishwasher, KUDE50cxss9. Everytime there is a power outage, the control panel goes blank.
I called Kitchenaide and since it is past the one year mark, there is no warranty coverage. A service tech came out and reset the controls. a few months later it happened again. Another service call!
In 3 years this has occurred 5 times, each requiring a service tech to come out and reprogram the unit. It is ridiculous. I complained to several levels of authority at their corporate office, only to learn that this is a design build into the unit so that a surge will not fry the components. They would not provide me the secret sequence of buttons to push to reset the unit, that I would have to have a technician come out and I would be responsible for a service call and labor.
No other digital appliance in my house has a problem, and it is ridiculous to pay for a service call for someone to enter in a magical sequence of buttons to reset this.
Had this been advertised as a feature, I would have never selected this model. It s as if they designed obsolescence into the unit to create service work
Reason of review: Damaged or defective.
Monetary Loss: $1500.
Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.
KitchenAid Pros: Look of the appliance.
KitchenAid Cons: Would never buy another kitchen aid dishwasher, Poor customer service, Unhelpful customer service.
