I purchased a Kitchenaid refrigerator, microwave, stove and dishwasher in October 2012. The first time using the stove, it popped up with an error code.

The complete digital control panel needed to be replaced. The dishwasher cleaned poorly and I was told by the technician that these dishwashers just simply aren't as effective as the older models, nice news after paying $1,000 for it. The refrigerator has been the worst problem of them all. The seal between the icemaker and door constantly leaks water across the front of the icemaker, freezing the ice bucket in place.

The interior of the icebucket has started to rust and icicles form around the seals. Over the past 4 months, I've had 6 service calls for this issue. The technicians have attempted to fix the issue to no avail. This unit is obviously defective.

Kitchenaid customer service explained that a "kit" is being developed to fix this problem but they do not know when it would be available and I would just have to wait. I have been most reasonable and finally requested a replacement on the last service visit but was denied. I was told the appliance would have to be deemed "unrepairable" before it could be replaced as a whole. As of now, this refrigerator can not be repaired but since the miracle kit designed to repair this issue is in the works, it is not considered for replacement.

The service manager "Tracy" said she is the highest authority and I could not escalate this issue beyond her and she refused to offer a solution except for me to wait and deal with it. I contacted the Whirlpool corporate office and I am awaiting what they have to say. I have spent alot of time dealing with this issue and have set aside 4 hour blocks on 6 occasions waiting for repairmen. I am left with a substandard product that is not functioning properly and told to deal with it pending this supposed fix.

I was offered a 6 month extended warranty on this unit for my inconvenience. I would prefer a functioning appliance rather that a bandaid fix. I had a Kenmore appliance set for the past 12 years with no calls for service, but had 3 of 4 new kitchenaid appliances serviced with 1 month of ownership. Kitchenaid does not make a reliable product, the quality control is poor and they do not back their product as their obvious lip service mission statement reads.

I cannot recommend Kitchenaid to anyone and strongly advise against purchasing their products.

I will now be forced to buy an extended warranty for all 4 Kitchenaid appliances or will be paying for service calls for years to come due to the substandard quality. My $6,000.00 Kitchenaid appliance set purchase was a mistake, learn from my loss.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Monetary Loss: $1500.

Location: Gardena, California

I own 5 KA appliances, EVERY one has broke at some level. Did you notice how every year they send you a renewal (for a fee, of course) for your warranty??

Yep because it's made like ***!!! Warranty of every appliance, computer etc is one year. What happened to quality workmanship? That;s what happens when they decided to have everything made overseas!!!

There is no quality control!!

And they say this is because of the American Unions!! It's because of corporate GREED!!!
