Assuming it should be a simple task to replace the interior light bulb in my KitchenAid microwave which sits on top of the oven (a combo unit containing both appliances, Model #EMC378KSS01) I looked for a way to access the recessed light bulb compartment on the roof of...

I did a search about possible dangers in opening a microwave to repair it, which is what you would need to do to change their bulb. Take a look at:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071117014742AAvxpue

Apparently, the design of your GE microwave is such that it is not just as simple as changing a bulb in your range, etc. but involves possible contact with the magnetron and other electrical parts which could harm you. Thus, GE for liability purposes, will not tell you how to do it. Just buy a new microwave. They are so cheap now.

The absolute worst dishwasher ever built. Top rack slider wheels are all plastic. Very weak design. Poorly engineered and materials are the worst. This is an expensive dishwasher, but the design will give you 2 - 3 years of life. 3 years maximum and the dishwasher is a...

KitchenAid in Overland Park, Kansas - Kitchen aid dishwasher

We bought a higher line kitchen aid dishwasher in 2011. Model number kuds31ixbl2. Shortly after the 1 year warrantee expired all the upper rack plastic parts holding the racks became brittle and broke. I replace many at a cost of over $100.00. This has happened again. I called the company and talked to a supervisor. They discounted the 2 parts by only 50%. I requested the parts and materials be reported. The remedy is unacceptable. Do not buy kitchen aid products as they do not stand behind product defects! To have to replace parts yearly at hundreds of dollars is unacceptable when it is a materials manufacturing defect.

KitchenAid - Dishwasher Failures

We spend $1200 on a "top shelf" Kitchen Aide dishwasher, it fails after four years and spend another $450 to repair it. Six months later one of the cleaning dispensers fails. No idea why. Call the company they have no idea how to trouble shoot, just de-power it for about ten minutes. No luck. They will be glad to send a repairman for a mere $200. Next day a six month old 29 cubic foot Kitchen Aide refrigerator fails, repairman fixes. Machine still not working. Send repairman back, had to wait 5.5 hours for a four hour window, no call. Kitchen Aide center says it is not heir fault of no call or late arrival. Repairman, same as first one, had failed to restart the refrigerator. LAST TIME BUY ANY PRODUCT FROM THIS COMPANY, by the way this is a Whirlpool Company.

Your situation is not uncommon and, in fact seems to be getting worse. Best bet is to buy a no-frills or bells and whistles appliance and when they break, just buy a new one.

This is what we now do. Sometimes the appliance will last ten years and sometimes not, but if you don't fall for the "bells and whistles" or "premium", etc. nonsense and just buy something that does the job, you will come out ahead. The real problem is that nothing is manufactured in the US anymore and the standards in Asia are rather lax compared to what we once knew.

The American labor force has priced itself out of the market and it is now cheaper to make a dishwasher in China and ship it here than it is to pay some dopey American $20 per hour or more. That 's just the way it is.

KitchenAid - Brand New refrierator needs ice maker to be replaced.

Purchased amongst other appliances a Kitchen Aid Refrigerator from Pacific Sales at the Best Buy in West LA for our new home. The hour the refrigerator was delivered and installed the ice maker did not work. Called Pacific Sales and was given the run around.Had the service person from Kitchen Aid come and take a look and finally agreed that the ice maker unit has to be replaced. I am not content with someone tampering with a brand new appliance. Armando...the manager from Pacific Sales has yet to return my five phone calls. Frank Ruiz the sales guy who sold me the appliances is giving me nasty attitude. Eventually spoke with escalations in Pacific Sales and also Kitchen Aid and they are NOT going to replace the item, basically stating that I AM STUCK AND SCREWED BY PURCHASING FROM PACIFIC SALES AND THE KITCHEN AID BRAND. Wonder what problems come up after the one year warranty expires. Both my homes are filled with Kitchen Aid products from the spatulas and baking items, water kettle, Bounty paper roll holder to cooking utensils and all the small and large appliances. The days of customer satisfaction and keeping them content are GONE,as once they get your money and complete the sale...the customer is beholden to all the *** they can dish out to us. I guess I will not be buying anything from Pacific Sales or Kitchen Aid ever....

Moved one year ago and the diswasher is a Kitchen Aid 577-1. Worst dishwasher I've ever had as it does not "start" when programmed.

Have to keep shutting the door and trying it again and again. After about the 4-5th time sometimes it starts to clean.

KitchenAid in Gladwin, Michigan - Upper rack made of cheap plastic

I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher in March 2011 from Lowes, I chose the KitchenAid brand and paid a slightly higher amount as I was told they are well built and work better than any other brand on the market, and because I thought they would stand by their product. In December 2012 the upper rack adjuster broke because it is made of plastic and the dishwasher has the lift higher feature, that is used quite a bit. I contacted customer service and they said the part was out of stock and finally in late January I received the replacement part, Last week it broke again same place so I contacted customer service again and I asked them if anyone else has this issue and I was told they could not discuss this with me but there is no recall. was told I am sorry but the part is in stock call Marcone to order the part. The cost is 40.00 plus shipping, I am so angry right now, I have a dishwasher that is useless. without the top rack in the upper spray unit will not work.

A bunch of dishes broke when the rack fell and some glass got into the motor. 400 dollars to replace the motor.

KitchenAid says "so sorry, not a thing we can do." Had the machine for just over 2 years. Seeing how many complaints there are about the cheap plastic holding the wheels on to the rack I think it is time for a recall.
