Dear Consumer, Please be very careful when selecting to buy this expensive brand of Kitchen Aid appliance. The estimated retail price is $3000.00. We bought the fridge a year and a half ago and the appliance is already in need of service. The freezer has stopped working and from what I have read it is a fairly common problem.

We called for service and were given an appointment, Wednesday between 8am to 12pm. The technician called at 12 pm advising he was running late. I couldn't wait, so I asked to reschedule. The appointment was rescheduled for Monday at 10 am. Wouldn't you know it the technician never showed up. After speaking with Kitchen aid they rescheduled another appointment for the following day. I get a call from the technician shortly after advising that they do not service the area. Another call goes into kitchen aid and i have to reschedule a new appointment this time it is an all day appointment but they have asked the technician to make it a priority. It is now !!!!

Kitchen Aid .....NEVER AGAIN.... It is "KitcheJunk"

Don't buy this ***!!!

Monetary Loss: $800.

Location: Toronto, Ontario

I have this same one and within a year it was leaking water, then lights in the fridge went out and I had ice buildup in the fridge. Warranty service replaced about every part in it and never resolved the issues.

I've been living with it as is until last night I discovered the freezer stopped working. I had to move food to the garage fridge and throw some items away.

I researching solutions to this issue now and came across your post. Couldn't agree more, this thing was garbage from the start!

My kitchen aid model KFIS29PBMS00 is a POS. Spent over $2K on it and has reoccurring problems with ice build-up on freezer compartment causing fan blades to hit and creating lots of noise.

Also, ice maker doesn't work.

I can't believe manufacturer doen't stand behind their products. We will never pirchase another Kitchen Aid appliance again!

Having the same problems. Freezer is cold and only part freezes.

Had to throw out lots of food. The ice maker doesn't work.

Also we have to put the refrigerator at lowest temp in order for it to stay cold. It is also the noisiest thing ever!!

We're also having this problem. The freezer stopped freezing - just had to throw out EVERYTHING in there as it was all defrosted - and the ice maker no longer works.

Guess I should have researched before this purchase.

Buying this has proven to be a costly mistake on our part. Never again will I purchase KitchenAid

What was the issue? I have the same problem with the freezer.

Was this issue resolved? My fridge is currently having the same issue and was curious if someone know the specific part that had to be replaced so I can order it.

Thanks

I like all my kitchenaid products except the refrigerator. It is extremely loud and I never have enough ice. For as much as it cost, I expected much more!

This is a junk!

DON'T buy kitchen aid fridges. Even worse the retailer, Lowes, does nothing to support the end user.

My problem is even better. I purchased the refrigerator in May of 2013 and immediately had to call for a repair to the freezer door tabs.

That took until August to get it fixed with waiting for appointments and ordering parts. When the tech came out I showed him some bad condensation we were having on the top of the refrigerator. He told me to wait and see if if fixed itself. That may work for them to have a second service call but it certainly didn't work well for me.

It got worse and I had icicles hanging from the front of the fridge. So we started this process the end of April and with ordering of parts and being told the parts were discontinued and being told by the service tech that it was a design flaw - he didn't know that when he looked at it on the first visit. They first call about why they hadn't called with an appointment I was told the parts had been discontinued. Then they had another source and would see if they could get them expedited.

Next call and still no parts so they were going to order it again. They called and said the shipment was expedited and an appointment was set. They couldn't find my house. I live in a town with a total population of 654 and everybody in the area knows my house.

They rescheduled and then called and told me the parts would be delivered directly to me. What were they bringing for parts when they couldn't find my house? The day before came and no parts were delivered. Then they came - 3 all in one shipment.

Hmmmm... seemed a bit strange that they ordered them on 3 different dates and they all arrived together. So we rescheduled, yet again and it is now the end of June. They came on a Saturday, replaced the service kit and I needed to wait 24 hours for it to produce ice - which it didn't and still isn't.

I called them Monday and the earliest they could come back out was July 21st. Seriously, they broke my refrigerator while fixing my refrigerator and they aren't coming right back out. So I called Kitchenaid and was told they would have to locate another service provider in my area and they would call me back in 5 to 7 days. Well, that was 10 days ago so I called today and was told they still haven't been able to find any other service provider in the area.

I looked on their website and found 4 Kitchenaid dealers within 15 miles of my house. I called them back and told them about my problem and they suddenly found the other dealers. They called one who agreed to come to fix the refrigerator but can't get here until Monday. Monday is better then never!

I have owned the refrigerator for 13 months and it has been in the process of being worked on 10 of the 13 months. Now for the extended warranty - why purchase it if they don't have anybody who can provide service in my area? What do I do since it is perfectly obvious that I have a dud and it seems even more clear they are aware it is a dud.

But that just doesn't seem to be their problem. They are right, it isn't, it is my problem.

Update - it is now August 15, 2014. I have talked to Corporate HQ at Whirlpool/Kitchenaid and Lowes.

Piece by piece I am getting more information. There are NO service techs for Whirlpool/Kitchenaid or Lowes within a 200 mile radius of my area and I live about 50 miles from Louisville, KY and 60 miles from Cincinnati, OH. I am waiting to hear back from the Team Resources Department. The last service rep I talked to sent them an email describing all the problems I am having.

Team Resources keeps telling me to call them back, even gave me an extension number, but the Customer Service Team won't let me talk to Team Resources. The service tech told me I can't call Team Resources, they can only be contacted by email or fax.

The Service Tech told me I would hear from Team Resources in 24-48 hours.

He sent the email Tuesday morning and it is now Friday afternoon and I haven't heard from anybody.

I have contacted several repairman and nobody will take on the job since 2 other repairmen have worked on the unit.

They have backed me into a corner and my only option is to turn this over to the Consumer Protection Agency and the BBB and file complaints against Whirlpool/Kitchenaid for violation of warranty and Lowes for violation as the retailer.

Hopefully they don't want to replace the unit since neither Lowes or Whirlpool/Kitchenaid have service techs if I have issues with a new unit.

Disgusting!

I had the exact same issues as you. You can have kitchen aid refund you the extended warranty money that you paid. I've been out of a fridge for over a year I don't know what to do next

Junk is putting it nicely for what I think of this company, their product and non existent customer service. They are lying thieves who want nothing more than to take your money and cast you aside like yesterdays garbage

oh my god we are having the exact problem!
